The core of the hermetic discipline, sigil's combine the arcane, mathematics, and sciences into magic of immense potency bound into enduring symbols of power. Sigil magic makes use of complicated spell weaving to transcribe the effects of magic either into a self-sufficient system that can maintain and operate indefinitely on its own or an incredibly powerful effect that combines multiple spells and ideas into an incredibly potent and complex magical process that simply have too many components to be enacted without precise exterior focii. Interweaving the proper spells into an appropriate base circle allows for sigils that can do quite literally anything, its only a matter of taking the time to experiment and determine the proper formula.
The Doctor is more than experienced in this practice, being especially enamored in its rigid and systematic methodology that ironically grants limitless possibility, and is as close to mastery of the art as any man can ever claim. Both basic and complex sigils ranging from wards of far-sight or protection, to power-wells that collect all the natural mana over a large area, and even those that can banish or bind extra=planar entities to his will are easily within the Doctor's dominion. These, however impressive they might be in their own right, are of little meaning to him compared to those sigils he has pioneered himself for his own means and ends.
Partition MindAn internal sigil that is constructed within the mind-scape and placed within the thoughts of the caster, to cordon off a train of thought and effectively divide it from the rest of the mental process. In essence, a second but more limited mind is granted to the magi by literally isolating some of their thoughts, to contemplate tasks and enact any plans of action that pertain to its intended function.
This mental partition can be given control of any parts of the body it requires to carry out its tasks, and it is capable of communicating with other isolated parts of the mind as-needed to recall memories or make sure it does not conflict with other actions that they may impose on the body. This is the Doctor's most commonly employed Sigil, in fact he is usually under multiple instances of its effects at any given time. Due to its lack of physical inscription of any type, as it merely requires picturing the sigil, combined with his daily practice its formation is more or less instantaneous. |
