Basic spellwork defined by its simplistic nature and ease of performance. In theory anyone with even the slightest aptitude for magic should be able to learn such spells, though their level of effectiveness is reliant on the proficiency of the magus themselves. Such is the experience and aptitude of Doctor D that he has reduced many spells of great repute and prestige into mere cantrips, and even his most simple evocations rival far greater spellwork by other mages, not in their efficiency but in their raw force of magic. Due to this level of proficiency the Doctor can utilize his Cantrips without any incantation and without devoting his attention or magical power wholeheartedly, giving only a though to achieve the desired effect.
Exerting the effects of Cantrips upon inanimate objects is as simple as being able to see or clearly picture the object, whereas doing so on a living thing against its wishes is a battle of will. Weaker willed creatures, such as most animals, are simple enough but against a sentient target they can be all but impossible. In either case direct touch mitigates this almost completely- Such is his proficiency that for the purposes of spellwork any object in the Doctor's hands is no longer a living thing with free will, reduced to a mere component of the spell being worked.
Aside from your most basic and generic of spells such as producing light or sound, scrying through a crystal lens, conjuring basic food and sundries, small scale telekinetic feats, the evocation and control of the classical elements, and other similar feats which he is quite capable of, the Doctor has specialized a select few of his cantrips to such a degree that they truly rival higher magics.
ReinforceA process known to most mages in which an object 's structure is saturated with mana in order to strengthen and enhance its capabilities. This ranges from merely making an inanimate object sturdier to enhancing the strength and speed of a living one, to heightening the effectiveness of a tool or weapon more abstractly.
The Doctor in particular is incredibly skilled at all of the above processes, able to raise stone to a durability surpassing titanium and the average man into an absolute monstrosity in terms of strength and speed, or inflating the end result of a weapon's attack several times over. This process also grants spell resistance in either case, expending the mana stored as a means of nullifying incoming magics of a destructive or manipulative nature. Additionally the use of appropriate extra components, physically or idealistically, exponentially enhances these effects and in some cases also imparts additional supernatural traits based upon the properties of those materials. For instance the addition of powdered iron may increase durability, a vial of quicksilver speed, or a pinch of ash the attribute of flame. The duration of the effect is directly proportional to the amount of mana infused into the object, and gradually fades as that mana is expended until it again reaches a mundane state. It should be noted that this duration does not however tick-down over time so to speak , rather it is only shortened as the affected object makes use of its enhanced traits.. Simply maintaining a normal level of stress indefinitely prolongs the strengthening effect until it is needed or the stored mana is used for some other purpose. |

Replicate
A simple cantrip that uses the framework of an object the caster can see or touch to create a number of duplicates of that object. The relative mass of an object determines how difficult and costly it is to duplicate, though most mundane objects are no more than a thought away and cost less mana than the doctor generates in the time span it takes to create them.
The physical properties of the objects created are absolutely identical to whatever they are a duplicate of, however should they be subjected to an excess of strong magic/anti-magic force, used as spell components, or simply broken they will dissipate into thin air. Any magical properties the object may have had can also be replicated, however unlike its physical properties they are imperfect and diluted, unless those same properties are easily within the magus's reach. |
